If you already use Notion within your team, and want a great template to use for your 1 on 1 meetings, you have come to the right place! I used to run my meetings in Google Docs, but Notion is my new favourite now (if only they fix their slow loading times). 

A good 1 on 1 Notion template should:

Use to-do lists to manage action items

One on one meetings are pretty much useless if you don’t resolve previous feedback given by your team member. Notion has a great to-do input field which you can use to note down action items on you or the team member. 

Personally, this is the first thing I look at before entering the meeting. It’s great to help me prepare for the meeting. I also try my best to add new to-dos here during the meeting itself. 

Some people also use callouts to note down important points discussed in a specific meeting. 

Use inline tables to summarise each meeting 

A great way to summarise the meeting is to use inline tables inside Notion. You can use that to enter one sentence compilations, or maybe a mood tracker if that is something you fancy! I usually ask my team members “How are their energy levels” at least once a month. 

If you would like to have a new Notion page for each meeting, you can create a new table to link to each such meeting!

Get fancy - linked database of team member’s profile

Notion has a powerful feature called “Linked Databases” which you can use to organise your entire team in one place. Imagine that you have a master table called “People” which has columns like the ones below, and each row corresponds to one team member:

• Employee name
• Profile picture
• Joining date 
• Location 

Now you can use this database to link it to your new page of 1 on 1 meeting. Automatically create profile pictures, names and much more! Pretty cool, huh? It’s almost like you don’t need tools like Kaapi any more (almost, heh!).
