The market is flooded with employee feedback & engagement survey tools, and choosing the right one can be very daunting! Add the uncertainties of Covid-19 & abrupt remote work transitions to this and you have got the perfect mix for a headache.
I have written exhaustively about the topic of choosing employee feedback tools before! Let’s expand on our previous conversations a bit more.
Startups need specialised pulse survey tools
Different employee pulse survey tools cater to different buyer personas, and you should do proper research before finalising one e.g.
- Enterprise players like Tinypulse are best suited to be bought by CHROs at large 5000+ employee organisations
- A few modern tools like Cultureamp, Lattice etc are best suited to be used by large fast growing tech companies.
All such tools will give you an abundance of features like performance management, employee onboarding, and 360 degree feedback etc. But if you are currently a team of say 100+ people, you don’t need to pay for the entire suite. You should choose specialised tools like Kaapi, Range and Officevibe.
A good pulse survey tool allows you to customise
This one is obvious right? You should be able to personalise the tool to fit into your workflow instead of the other way round. You should be able to change:
- Frequency of sending questions
- How many questions to send at one time
- Timing / day of sending the question etc
It should have high engagement questions
No matter how fancy your chosen employee pulse survey tool is, it WILL fail if the questions are boring. And many low quality tools copy-paste their survey questions from the internet. Which means your team members get bored with the pulse survey questionnaire, and the whole thing falls flat!
